The idea stemmed from a gender diversity task force and was implemented Sept. 20.
While gender will be removed from wristbands, medical history will be properly recorded to ensure patient safety.
“We didn’t feel like there was any reason why that had to be publicly displayed on a wristband or sticker,” hospital spokesperson Natalie Nokoff, MD, said of patients’ gender.
