Transylvania Regional Hospital (Brevard, N.C.). Two physicians devised a plan to open Transylvania Regional Hospital in 1933 as a nonprofit institution governed by a board of trustees. In 2008, the hospital opened a new $18 million inpatient wing and, in 2012, it became a full member of Mission Health. iVantage Health Analytics named Transylvania Regional Hospital among its 100 Top Critical Access Hospitals in the U.S. in 2017.
