HackensackUMC (Hackensack, N.J.). HackensackUMC, a 775-bed teaching hospital, is widely recognized for its environmental and sustainability initiatives, including partnerships with local organizations to increase the purchase of sustainable food and establish a farm stand. In 2017, HackensackUMC received the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth for the fourth consecutive year. HackensackUMC boasts the Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center, which aims to identify, control and ultimately prevent toxic exposures in the environment that can threaten children’s health.
