Kaiser Permanente San Jose (Calif.) Medical Center. Kaiser Permanente San Jose hosts two weekly farmers markets on campus, serves hormone-free milk in cafeterias and offers Meatless Monday options to reduce meat consumption. These efforts helped the hospital earn a spot in Practice Greenhealth’s Healthy Food Circle this year. Additionally, the hospital diverts more than 30 percent of its trash from landfills and reduced its water use by more than 25 percent. Those efforts earned the hospital a spot in Practice Greenhealth’s Water Circle. Also this year, Practice Greenhealth gave the hospital its Greenhealth Emerald Award.
