VA Portland Healthcare System (Ore.). The VA Portland Health Care System, or VAPORHCS, is a 277-bed facility that serves more than 85,000 veterans each year in Oregon and Southwest Washington. VAPORHCS has many programs in place to prevent pollution, reduce waste and conserve natural and cultural resources. Practice Greenhealth recognized the system in 2015 with a Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award and three Circle of Excellence awards in energy efficiency, water conservation and green building achievements. Additionally, the Portland VA Medical Center’s Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Bend, Ore., is a LEED Gold equivalent facility.
