In 2003, Dr. Stoelting became the first full-time president of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation. He has been a member of the Indiana University School of Medicine department of anesthesia since 1970 and has since been named chair of the department, which now offers a professorship in his name. Dr. Stoelting has authored textbooks on anesthesiology and regularly speaks and writes on patient safety.
