Dr. Shojania has been editor-in-chief of BMJ Quality & Safety since January 2011. He also serves as director of the Centre for Patient Safety at the University of Toronto and is a scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto. Dr. Shojania has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals and received a John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety Award from the Joint Commission in 2004. In 2015, he co-chaired a National Patient Safety Foundation panel to assess how the field of patient safety has changed since the 1999 release of the Institute of Medicine’s To Err Is Human report.
