As a surgeon with more than two decades of healthcare experience, Dr. Merlino served as chief experience officer and associate chief of staff at the Cleveland Clinic prior to joining Press Ganey. He has written a book on how to improve the patient experience and has been published in a number of academic journals. In addition to his current role, Dr. Merlino is president and founder of the Association for Patient Experience and a founding executive council member of the Institute for Innovation, both nonprofit organizations.
