Don Berwick, MD. President Emeritus and Senior Fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

Dr. Berwick is a former administrator of CMS and chair of the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Dr. Berwick has a background in pediatrics and has served the IHI since 1991, where he has overseen the cultivation and implementation of innovative ideas and programs brought to fruition for the purpose of improving patient care. Dr. Berwick has authored and co-authored more than 160 medical articles and five books. He is a lecturer in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Berwick was knighted in 2005 by the queen of England in recognition for his work with the British National Health Service.
