More than 200,000 preventable patient deaths happen in U.S. hospitals each year, and Mr. Kiani created the Patient Safety Movement Foundation in 2013 to reduce that number. PSMF held the first Patient Safety Science & Technology Summit in 2013 under Mr. Kiani’s leadership, and President Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker. The Summit is now held annually. Mr. Kiani is also the founder, chairman and CEO of Masimo Corp., a global medical technology innovator.
