Winneshiek Medical Center has served people in northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota since 1914 and is now the second-largest critical access hospital in Iowa. The hospital has a professional services agreement and collaborative relationship with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, in which Mayo Clinic Health System physicians provide primary and specialty care at Winneshiek Medical Center while the county maintains ownership of the hospital. Winneshiek Medical Center has been on the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals list from iVantage Health Analytics three times, most recently in 2015, and also has a spot on the National Rural Health Association’s 2015 Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals list.
