David E. Phelps. CEO of Berkshire Health Systems (Pittsfield, Mass.). Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Mass., is part of BHS. Mr. Phelps, a Pittsfield native, was appointed president of BHS and BHS’s long-term care associate Berkshire Health Care Systems in 1993. Mr. Phelps currently serves on the Board of the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals and Massachusetts Hospital Association. Prior to entering the world of healthcare, Mr. Phelps held several local and national government positions, including assistant to the former Pittsfield mayor and special assistant to the chief of protocol for the U.S. State Department.
