Terry Akin. CEO of Cone Health (Greensboro, N.C.). Mr. Akin joined Cone Health as COO in 2009, before being named president in 2012 and CEO in 2014. He has vast experience in healthcare leadership, previously holding various executive leadership positions at Harris Methodist Fort Worth (Texas) Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, both part of Arlington-based Texas Health Resources. He has held senior leadership roles at Los Angeles-based Cedars Sinai Medical Center and MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Mr. Akin is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the North Carolina Hospital Association Board of Directors and serves as chairman of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance. He earned a spot on Triad Business Journal‘s “Most Admired CEOs” list in 2016 and received ACHE’s Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award in 2017 for his significant contributions to the advancement of healthcare management excellence.
