Kenneth Samet. President and CEO of MedStar Health (Columbia, Md.). Mr. Samet has served as MedStar’s CEO since 2008. He was named the system’s first COO 10 years earlier, when MedStar was founded, and then became president and COO in 2003. He now leads the 10-hospital system, overseeing its 31,000 associates and 4,700 affiliated physicians who serve around 500,000 patients annually. Mr. Samet is also responsible for the health system’s insurance products, which cover more than 170,000 members. Mr. Samet is a member of the board of directors at Georgetown University, the Greater Baltimore Committee, the Economic Club of Washington and United Way of the National Capital Area. He earned his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
