Delos (Toby) Cosgrove, MD. President and CEO of Cleveland ClinicDr. Cosgrove became president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic in 2004 and plans to step down from this role at the end of 2017. Dr. Cosgrove is responsible for reorganizing clinical services to a patient-centered model and launching major wellness initiatives, including a smoking ban on Cleveland Clinic campuses and the creation of an employee health insurance program offering discounts for physical activity or disease management. During his tenure, Cleveland Clinic doubled the number of affiliated physician scientists and increased total visits from 2.8 million to 7.1 million. Dr. Cosgrove also presided over Cleveland Clinic’s revenue growth from $3.7 billion in 2004 to $8.5 billion in 2016. A cardiac surgeon by training, Dr. Cosgrove performed around 22,000 operations during his 30-year career and earned an international reputation for his valve repair expertise.
