Penny Wheeler, MD. President and CEO of Allina Health (Minneapolis). Dr. Wheeler became the first female president and CEO of Allina Health in 2014 after spending eight years as the system’s chief clinical officer. She is responsible for leading Allina Health’s quality and value agenda and aligning clinical and operational leadership. In addition to leading Allina Health, Dr. Wheeler chairs the Minnesota Community Measurement board, a regional health quality collaborative, and sits on the board of Portico Healthnet, an organization that assists uninsured Minnesotans. Dr. Wheeler has previous experience as president of the medical staff at Minneapolis-based Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
