Paul G. Ramsey, MD. CEO of UW Medicine (Seattle). Dr. Ramsey has served as CEO of UW Medicine and executive vice president for medical affairs and dean of University of Washington School of Medicine since June 1997. UW Medicine includes the medical school, four hospitals, a physician network and a system of primary care clinics, among other sites of care and services. From 1990 to 1997, he served as University of Washington School of Medicine’s department of medicine chair and became the first individual to hold the Robert. G. Petersdorf Endowed Chair in Medicine in 1995. Throughout his career, Dr. Ramsey’s research has focused on assessing physician clinical competence, and he served as the principal investigator on multiple research grants assessing clinical skills. He is an elected member of the Association of American Physicians and National Academy of Medicine, formerly known as the Institute of Medicine.
