Donald Kearns, MD. President and CEO of Rady Children’s Hospital (San Diego). Rady Children’s Hospital named Dr. Kearns president and CMO in 2013, and promoted him to president and CEO in 2015. Dr. Kearns is responsible for the 520-bed Rady Children’s Hospital, its strategy and clinical collaborations with other providers, for which 2016 was an important year. The hospital partnered with six other children’s hospitals to form Sanford Children’s Genomic Medicine Consortium, which is committed to integrating genomic medicine into pediatric care. Dr. Kearns is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Physician Executives. Before transitioning into hospital administration, Dr. Kearns spent more than 25 years as a pediatric otolaryngologist at Rady Children’s, eventually serving as chairman of the department of surgery and surgeon-in-chief of Rady Children’s Specialists.
