Dr. Gartland joined Emory as a physician in 2005 and served in a variety of leadership roles, including COO, before being promoted to CEO in 2015. Dr. Gartland also oversees Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods. During his tenure, Dr. Gartland played a key role in achieving high rankings from the University HealthSystem Consortium. He also led the hospital as its team successfully treated the first U.S. patients diagnosed with Ebola in 2014.
