David Bensema, MD. CIO of Baptist Health (Louisville, Ky.). Baptist Health named Dr. Bensema, a board-certified internist, CIO in 2014. Dr. Bensema spent 16 years in a Lexington, Ky.-based private practice before joining Baptist Health in 2006 as executive director of physician services for Central Baptist Hospital — later renamed Baptist Health Lexington — and medical director of Baptist Physicians Lexington. As CIO, Dr. Bensema developed the health system’s IT structures and built the IT team, leading efforts to develop a systemwide EHR. In 2014, Dr. Bensema was president-elect of the Kentucky Medical Association and spent time on the e-Health Board for Kentucky.
