Ralph de la Torre, MD. Chairman and CEO of Steward Health Care System (Boston, Mass.). As chairman and CEO of Steward Health Care System, Dr. de la Torre oversees New England’s largest fully integrated community care organization, including 10 hospital campuses, 17,000 employees, 30 affiliated urgent care providers, 6 ambulatory surgery centers, home care, hospice and other services. Prior to joining Steward, he was founder and CEO of the Cardiovascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and of Cardiovascular Management Associates, at which time he was also chief of cardiac surgery at BIDMC and a Harvard Medical Faculty Physician. During his tenure at CEO, Dr. de la Torre has worked to establish the Steward Community Choice health insurance plan and to have the system named a participant in the Medicare Pioneer ACO program.
