Mark Schafer, MD. CEO of MemorialCare Medical Foundation (Fountain Valley, Calif.). Dr. Schafer is CEO for MemorialCare Medical Foundation, part of MemorialCare Health System in Southern California. He oversees its management, service and business operations which includes a medical group, IPA, ambulatory surgical centers and imaging centers. The medical group and IPA together have over 350 primary care physicians and more than 2500 employed or contracted specialists. Previously, Dr. Schafer served as CMO for the Foundation, overseeing its rapid growth and was involved firsthand in physician practice acquisitions and integration. Dr. Schafer serves on the boards of directors for MemorialCare Physician Society, MemorialCare Innovation Fund, Beach Surgical Holdings, LLC, Wave Imaging, LLC, Summation Health Ventures, California Association of Physician Groups and California Medical Group Insurance Company. He was a founder and developed of Ascender Software, a data management software designed for providers.
