John McCabe, MD. Senior Vice President for Hospital Affairs and CEO of Upstate University Hospital (Syracuse, N.Y.). Prior to his appointment as CEO of Upstate University Hospital in 2009, Dr. McCabe served in various leadership roles within the hospital, including medical staff president, medical director of University Hospital, vice president and vice dean for hospital affairs and chair of the department of emergency medicine. He has assisted in the development of the hospital’s emergency medicine simulation center for the training of medical residents, oversaw the creation of a mass casualty unit and spearheaded the university’s creation of a Katrina Response Unit to provide medical assistance during Hurricane Katrina. Dr. McCabe is past president of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
