John D. McConnell, MD. CEO of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (Winston-Salem, N.C.). Following the restructuring of North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Wake Forest University Health Sciences, Dr. McConnell was appointed as the first-ever CEO of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. In this role, he oversees all clinical, academic and research enterprise within the medical center. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. McConnell was executive vice president of health system affairs at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where he originally joined the faculty in 1984 as a urologist and held administrative posts including vice president for clinical programs and executive vice president for administration.
