Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University was established in 1974 and became a Comprehensive Cancer Center, as designated by the National Cancer Institute, in 1997. Northwestern Memorial Hospital not only houses the cancer center, but also a brain tumor institute, cancer rehabilitation services, a breast cancer center and women’s cancer center. U.S. News & World Report nationally ranked Northwestern Memorial Hospital for cancer care in its 2016-17 rankings, placing the hospital at No. 14.
