Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston). Texas Children’s was first hospital in Texas to be named an Accredited Heart Failure Institute by the Healthcare Accreditation Colloquium and is one of only five pediatric members to receive the distinction. Providers at the hospital have provided 50 years of care for children with congenital heart defects, and had more than 23,000 outpatient encounters at its heart center in 2014 alone. The hospital ranked as No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in Texas for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report for 2015-16, and has been Magnet-designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2003.
