Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital
Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 1,541-bed teaching hospital that was founded in 1826, leaving it with a rich history of contributions to cardiology. For instance, in 1949, researchers at Yale-New Haven Hospital developed the first artificial heart pump. Today, with a medical staff of more than 4,800, the hospital is nationally recognized for its focus on teaching, patient care, research and community service. It was named one of the best hospitals in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery for 2014-15 by U.S. News & World Report and is also designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for nursing excellence.
