University Hospitals Case Medical Center is home to the University Hospitals Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute, which is comprised of 11 centers each focused on a different subspecialty. In January, physicians at UH Case Medical Center were among the first to perform a major heart surgery while the patient was under “twilight” sedation, awake and communicating with the surgeons during the procedure. UH Case Medical Center is ranked as one of the best hospitals in cardiology and heart surgery for 2014-15 by U.S. News & World Report and is also designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for nursing excellence.
