Tampa General Hospital was named one of the 2014-15 top 50 hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report. Tampa General Hospital performed 47 heart transplants in 2012, ranking it among the busiest transplant programs in the country. Tampa General Hospital has six cardiac catheterization laboratories and six interventional radiology suites across more than 77,000 square-feet of space. With disease-specific certification from The Joint Commission for heart failure and ventricular assist device, Tampa General Hospital is also designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
