The UCLA Medical Center was founded in 1955 and is ranked as one of the best hospitals in cardiology and heart surgery for 2014-2015 by the U.S. News & World Report. With six catheterization labs, UCLA Medical Center is designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The UCLA Medical Center is also a national leader in organ transplants: Its heart transplant program is the only one in California and is only one of seven heart transplant centers nationwide to be ranked at the silver level by the Health Resources and Services and Administration.
