Duke University Hospital (Durham, N.C.).
Duke University Hospital’s heart care program provides a wide-array of treatments, including services related to adult congenital heart disease, catheter ablation, pulmonary hypertension and coronary artery disease. Duke’s heart program has been recognized as one of the largest in the country by HHS and is continually looking to expand the horizons of cardiology research. Right now, for example, Duke researchers are working to create heparin substitutes that could be used in open-heart procedures that require the use of heart-lung bypass machines. The hospital was named one of the top 50 hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report for 2014-15.
