University of Tennessee Medical Center (Knoxville). The only academic medical center and largest provider of cancer care in the region, the UT Medical Center Cancer Institute is also a Magnet-recognized hospital and Level I trauma center. It was the first cancer center in east Tennessee to be award the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award. Clinicians there treat more than 1,800 new cases annually. CareChex ranked the hospital in the top 50 in the nation for cancer care this year.
