The five-year goal of the Markey Cancer Center, founded in 1983, is to decrease Kentucky’s cancer deaths by 50 percent, as the state is currently first in the nation for overall cancer mortality. The center’s clinical programs are integrated with UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, a Blue Distinction Center for Complex & Rare Cancers, and it is the only cancer center in the state to be designated as such by the National Cancer Institute.
