NYU Langone Medical Center (New York City). Founded in 1841, NYU Langone Medical Center has grown to become one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation. Originally named NYU Medical Center, the hospital’s name was changed in 2008 after it received a $200 million gift from Elaine A. Langone and Kenneth G. Langone.
Located in the heart of Manhattan, the hospital has been a pioneer in scientific breakthroughs, and four NYU School of Medicine alumni and former faculty are Nobel Prize recipients.
NYU Langone Medical Center has a total of 1,069 beds — 844 at Tisch Hospital and 225 at NYU Langone-Hospital for Joint Diseases. NYU Langone Medical also includes the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine.
NYU Langone Medical Center was recently ranked fifteenth in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s hospital Honor Roll list and earned a spot among the top 50 hospitals in the nation in 13 adult specialties.
