University of California Davis Medical Center (Sacramento). With a care footprint spanning the majority of Northern California, the University of California Davis Medical Center links patients to the area's only Level 1 trauma center to treat a range of spinal cases at the UC Davis Spine Center. The hospital earned the Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery designation and earned U.S. News & World Report's ranking in the top 50 hospitals in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery in 2017-18. To stay on the cutting edge of care delivery, UC Davis Medical Center neurosurgeons and spine surgeons participate in research and clinical trials. As of August 2017, the hospital had 18 ongoing clinical trials covering a variety of topics, including stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury, and a National Institutes of Health-funded trial examining new technology for detecting brain cancer.
