MedStar Health (Columbia, Md.).MedStar Health aims to stay at the forefront of neurological and spine research and treatment with a comprehensive department dedicated to furthering patient care. The health system received more than $6 million in spine and neurosurgery-focused funding in 2016 to support work from its 31 spine and neurosurgery physicians as well as related research. Last year, surgeons completed 4,333 neurological and spine surgery cases, and the health system is in the process of fully integrating neurosciences across the system, and aligning its 70 ongoing clinical trials in neurosciences. MedStar Health is leading the National Institutes of Health-funded Stroke National Capital Area Network for Research, which coordinates nearly all stroke clinical trials in the Washington, D.C., region, soon to be the Central Atlantic region.
