Community Healthcare System (Hobart, Ind.). In November, Community Healthcare’s St. Mary Medical Center broke ground on a new 27,000-square-foot Community Neuroscience & Sports Medicine Center. The facility, dedicated to treating neurological conditions including concussions and Parkinson’s disease in addition to musculoskeletal issues, is expected to open early in 2018 and feature a neuroscience and balance suite to evaluate patients with dizziness and balance issues. The health system also offers a range of spine and neurosurgery procedures, including tumor removal, and its Munster, Ind.-based Community Hospital was the first spine surgery program in Indiana to achieve The Joint Commission’s spine surgery specialty certification.
