University Hospital (Augusta, Ga.). University Hospital, a 812-bed facility, has a 42-bed unit serving its orthopedic and spine patients. In 2016, University Hospital’s orthopedic procedure volume totaled 1,374 performed by a staff of 11 orthopedic surgeons. Blue Cross Blue Shield Association designated University Hospital a Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery as well as knee and hip replacement surgery. Aetna also recognized University Hospital’s quality of care, designating the hospital an Aetna Institute of Quality for total joint replacement and spine surgery. CareChex’s 2018 Hospital Quality Ratings ranked University Hospital No. 3 in Georgia for medical excellence for joint replacement.
