UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (Aurora). UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital is a 673-licensed-bed hospital where surgeons perform 1,200 total joint replacements per year. The hospital participates in CMS’ Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacements model, aimed at bundling payments for higher-quality, lower-cost care. In 2016, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital and University of Colorado’s orthopedics department received nearly $1 million in National Institutes of Health funding for orthopedic research. The hospital’s orthopedists have experience treating elite athletes; during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, UCHealth specialists cared for 69 Olympic and 47 Paralympic athletes.
