Sentara Leigh Hospital (Norfolk, Va.). Sentara Leigh Hospital opened the 48-bed Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara Leigh in May 2017, which includes a branch of Sentara’s OrthoJoint Centers. One year after adopting Sentara OrthoJoint Center at Leigh Hospital, Sentara was able to reduce medical interventions due to low blood pressure by 34 percent. In 2015, the health system implemented its Express Track program at Sentara Leigh Hospital to reduce the length of stay, which dropped 15.21 percent in the first year to 2.62 days. The orthopedic program has a proven record of success within the state of Virginia, earning CareChex’s No. 2 ranking in the state for major orthopedic surgery. Additionally, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association designated Sentara Leigh Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center for hip and knee replacement.
