Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center offers specialized neuro-specific clinical units, including a 20-bed neuro-intensive care unit, a 42-bed neuro acute care unit and dedicated neurosurgical operating room suites. The Baylor Neuroscience Institute at the Magnet-designated hospital has received recognition for technology in the prevention and treatment of neurovascular diseases. For instance, the hospital was the first in Houston to use CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System in a clinical setting to treat intracranial tumors. The Baylor Neuroscience Institute also created the Stroke Partners Network, which provides a consultation service for treating acute stroke through cost-effective and evidence-based protocols. The hospital tied with Abbott Northwestern Hospital as No. 46 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery, according to U.S. News & World Report.
