The Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center opened in 2011 and is part of the University of California, San Diego academic health system. It was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in cardiology and heart surgery for 2014-2015. The Sulpizio Cardiovascular center was also recognized by Truven Health Analytics as one of the nation’s 2013 50 top cardiovascular hospitals. A Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care, it is also designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
