Mercy Hospital (Chicago). Back in 1852, Mercy became Chicago’s first chartered teaching hospital. Today, the hospital is affiliated with University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Chicago and Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. In 2013, a Mercy Hospital surgeon was the first in the state to utilize the Olympus 3D Laparoscopic Surgical Video System to perform minimally invasive cholecystectomy.
