Emory University Hospital - 100 Great Hospitals in America | 2014

Emory University Hospital (Atlanta). Emory University Hospital is affiliated with the city's first medical school, which was founded in the decade following the Civil War. The hospital, which was established in March 1904, is now a mainstay in the Atlanta community and the state.

Emory-University-Hospital-factsU.S. News & World Report ranked Emory University Hospital as the No. 1 hospital in Georgia for 2013-14, and the hospital is ranked nationally in five specialties. The 579-bed facility became Magnet-recognized for excellence in nursing for the first time in 2014. Further, according to the 2013 edition of Atlanta's top 322 physicians, published by Atlanta magazine, nearly half of them are affiliated with Emory.

The academic medical center has shown initiative to consistently improve and expand its offerings to patients. In January, Emory partnered with BlueCross BlueShield of Georgia for an accountable care organization. It also partnered with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for the Congenital Heart Center of Georgia, a comprehensive program for children and adults with congenital heart disease. It is the first comprehensive CHD program in the South.
