Children's Hospital Los Angeles - 100 Great Hospitals in America | 2014

Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Founded in 1901, Children's Hospital Los Angeles is now the largest pediatric hospital in Southern California and performs more complex procedures than any other hospital in the area.

FACTSChildren's Hospital Los Angeles was ranked fifth in the country on U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals 2013-14 Honor Roll, a list it has been on for five consecutive years. It has also received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The hospital is considered one of the country's premier teaching hospitals, as it has been affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California since 1932. Its training programs include 500 medical students, 86 full-time residents, three chief residents and 114 fellows.

Children's Hospital Los Angeles is also committed to basic, clinical and translational pediatric research. The Saban Research Institute of CHLA, established in 1992, comprises a team of 100 researchers and physicians who collaborate to help discover the developmental origins of health and disease, and combat cancer, brain disorders, diabetes and other pediatric conditions. The research institute is named to reflect a $40 million gift from Cheryl Saban, PhD, Haim Saban and The Saban Family Foundation.
