Carle Foundation Hospital (Urbana, Ill.). Thanks to Margaret Burt Carle Morris' $40,000 gift to the City of Urbana, Ill., Carle Foundation Hospital got its start in 1918. Today, the hospital is part of an integrated healthcare network owned by the nonprofit Carle Foundation. 

Carle-Foundation-Hospital-FactsThe Carle Foundation network includes the Mills Breast Cancer Institute, Carle Cancer Center, Carle Spine Institute, Carle Heart and Vascular Institute and Carle Physician Group, an outpatient practice made up of more than 350 physicians in 50 specialties. Carle Foundation Hospital was named one of America's Best Hospitals for 2014 by Healthgrades, the only hospital in Illinois outside of the Chicago metro area to earn that distinction. The hospital has also received Magnet designation for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Carle Foundation Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. The hospital offers the area's only Level I trauma center and only independent Level III perinatal service. Carle Foundation also helps families struggling to pay medical bills through its Carle Community Care Discount Program.
