Its active medical staff has 673 members, and the hospital boasts a volunteer corps of 460. Salem Hospital runs the busiest emergency department in the state, with 95,830 visits in 2014. The hospital holds Magnet status for nursing excellence as well as a bevy of Healthgrades awards, including the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, among many others.
