Lakeland Medical Center (St. Joseph, Mich.). Lakeland Medical Center is a 204-bed facility located approximately 100 miles from Chicago. The hospital is home of the Frederick S. Upton Education Center. This year, Lakeland Medical Center was named a HealthStrong Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics. In 2014, the hospital received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Outstanding Inpatient Clinical Achievement in the Acute-Care Hospital Setting.
