Maryland offers free telehealth app to Medicaid patients

Maryland has begun offering Medicaid enrollees a free telehealth app that connects them with emergency room physicians, according to WDVM.

The app allows enrollees in Maryland Physicians Care, the state's Medicaid program, to video chat or text with physicians and hopefully cut down on unnecessary emergency room visits.

"This will permit them to be able to identify problems more easily [and] know when they need to actually go to an emergency room more quickly," said Bruce Vanderver, chief medical examiner of Maryland Physicians Care.
