Zimmer Biomet CEO steps down: 3 things to know

David C. Dvorak on Tuesday resigned from his post as president and CEO of Zimmer Biomet.

Here are three things to know.

1. Mr. Dvorak, who served as CEO for ten years, also stepped down from the company's board of directors.

2. Daniel P. Florin, Zimmer Biomet's senior vice president and CFO, will serve as interim CEO and fill Mr. Dvorak's seat on the board until a permanent replacement is named.

3. Mr. Dvorak will also act as a company advisor for a short time to assist in the leadership transition.

"Serving alongside Zimmer Biomet's dedicated employees over the past 16 years and leading the company as CEO for ten of those years has been a privilege and a highlight of my professional career," said Mr. Dvorak. "I am particularly proud of what we have accomplished working together with surgeons and clinicians to help millions of patients globally improve their quality of life."
